Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian are among the leaders attending the 9th CIS Heads of State Summit, in Turkmenistan on Friday, October 9.

The anniversary summit, marking the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth, is chaired by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Putin, Pezeshkian, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and other CIS leaders are taking part.

The agenda includes key areas of co-operation within the Commonwealth, preparations for the transfer of the CIS chairmanship to Uzbekistan in 2027, and the adoption of a declaration marking the 35th anniversary of the CIS. The leaders are also expected to discuss international and regional issues and sign a package of agreements.
