US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan to the White House on Thursday, September 24, with a formal state arrival ceremony.

It comes ahead of talks between Trump and Xi, as the leaders of the world's two largest economies seek to manage tensions in US-China relations. Trade is expected to dominate, with the current trade truce due to expire in January, alongside critical minerals, artificial intelligence, Iran, Taiwan, Russia-Ukraine and others

The ceremony is expected to take place on the White House South Lawn, with military honours followed by bilateral talks.
