
'Kyrgyz Kuresh', a traditional type of Kyrgyz wrestling, takes place at the VI World Nomad Games in Cholpon Ata on Thursday, September 3. It is one of the oldest national forms of wrestling of the Kyrgyz people. Athletes stand facing each other on a special mat, holding their opponent’s belt with both hands. The winner of the bout is the athlete who succeeds in throwing the opponent onto their shoulders.Among the participating countries are India, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Armenia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Panama, Ghana, Peru, and others. The World Nomad Games is an international platform that brings together different cultures, traditions, values and sporting disciplines. They were first held in 2014. The iconic, international cultural and sports event dedicated to nomadic peoples is held from August 31 to September 6.
