'Gulesh', a traditional Azerbaijani type of national wrestling, takes place at the VI World Nomad Games in Cholpon Ata on Friday, September 4.

The bout begins in a unique way: the wrestlers step to the center, shake hands, and without releasing the grip, push each other with their shoulders. On the third, strongest push, they separate and begin the match. To win, a wrestler must pin the opponent on both shoulders.

Among the participating countries are Mongolia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and others.

The iconic, international cultural and sports event dedicated to nomadic peoples is held from August 31 to September 6.

The World Nomad Games is an international platform that brings together different cultures, traditions, values and sporting disciplines. They were first held in 2014.
