The defending champions secured their place in the knockout stage with a dramatic 3-2 extra-time win over Cabo Verde. Egypt also progressed after beating Australia in a penalty shootout.

Argentina captain Lionel Messi goes into the match level at the top of the Golden Boot standings on seven goals, alongside Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. Messi reached the mark in four matches - one fewer than both Haaland and Mbappe.

The winner will advance to the quarter-finals to face either Switzerland or Colombia on July 11.
