The funeral procession for Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is held in Tehran on Monday, July 6, as thousands of mourners line the streets to pay their final respects.
The procession follows two days of public farewell ceremonies at Tehran's Grand Mosalla, part of three days of national mourning. Khamenei's body is due to be transferred to the holy city of Mashhad for burial on July 9.
Khamenei led the Islamic Republic for more than three decades after succeeding Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini as Supreme Leader in 1989, overseeing a period marked by regional conflicts, international sanctions and heightened tensions with the West.
Khamenei was killed at his compound in Tehran during the opening wave of Israeli and United States airstrikes in the operation dubbed 'Epic Fury'.
