Pope Leo XIV arrives in Yaounde, Cameroon, on Wednesday, April 15, as part of a 10-day tour of Africa focused on peace, reconciliation and strengthening the Catholic Church in the region.
The tour began on Monday with a visit to Algeria, marking the first trip by a pope to the predominantly Sunni Muslim country. After Cameroon, the pontiff is scheduled to travel to Angola and Equatorial Guinea.
The pope will remain in Cameroon through April 18. His itinerary includes a stop in the Anglophone city of Bamenda, where he will lead a peace meeting aimed at addressing regional violence, and a public Mass in the coastal city of Douala on Friday.
