Iran marks 40 days since death of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Live from Tehran on Thursday, April 9, as Iran marks the end of the 40-day mourning period for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Funeral arrangements have not yet been carried out.

Khamenei was killed in his compound in Tehran during the first barrage of airstrikes launched on February 28 by Israel and the United States, dubbed Operation ‘Epic Fury’.

He led the Islamic Republic for more than three decades, becoming Supreme Leader in 1989 and succeeding Ruhollah Khomeini.
