The United Nations Security Council convenes for an emergency session on Saturday, February 28, following the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, and Tehran's subsequent response.

Russia, China, France, Bahrain and Colombia reportedly requested the urgent meeting of the UN body.

Earlier, Donald Trump called on Iran's Revolutionary Guard to "lay down your weapon… or face certain death." Iran reportedly targeted US bases and assets across the Gulf region following the strikes.

It comes following three rounds of talks between the Iranian and American sides, one in Muscat and two in Geneva in recent weeks.
