Mexico marks 204 years of independence with a civic-military parade in Mexico City, attended by President Claudia Sheinbaum, on Tuesday, September 16.
The parade takes place along the capital's main avenues, bringing together the armed forces, emergency services, students and civil organisations. It follows the annual El Grito' ceremony on the eve of Independence Day, when the president re-enacts the 1810 Cry of Dolores that began the independence movement.
Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821 after more than 300 years of colonial rule.
