President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky speak to the press in Brussels on Sunday, August 17.
It comes after US President Donald Trump's high-profile meeting with Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday, marking the Russian President's first trip to US soil in a decade. The leaders spoke privately for nearly three hours on topics, including the Ukraine conflict.
Both Zelensky and von der Leyen are expected to travel to Washington DC on Monday alongside other European leaders for follow-up talks with Trump at the White House.
