Description

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov claimed that Russia should be prepared for ‘long confrontation’ with the United States of America, while talking to reporters in Moscow on Tuesday.

"I think that we should not harbour any illusions, given the bipartisan anti-Russian consensus in the United States. We should prepare for a long confrontation with this country," he said. "We are ready for it in every sense, and we are sending all warning signals to our opponent so that they do not underestimate our determination," Ryabkov added.

The diplomat also claimed that US attempts to strategically defeat Russia would never 'come true'.

The US presidential elections take place on November 5.

On 15 July, the Republican National Convention nominated former President Donald Trump as its candidate. The Democratic Party nominated Kamala Harris, the current Vice President of the United States.
