The Crimean city of Feodosia has declared a state of emergency due to a fire at an oil facility, the mayor of the city, Igor Tkachenko, announced via his Telegram channel on Monday.
Footage shows plumes of black smoke rising above the terminal.
"In connection with the fire at the oil terminal territory in Feodosia, a state of technogenic emergency has been introduced on a municipal level. I remind you that access by people and transport to the scene of the emergency is restricted," Tkachenko wrote in his Telegram channel.
The mayor added that Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) staff are on the scene. No casualties or injuries had been reported at the time of publication and the cause of the fire had yet to be determined.
There has been no statement from the authorities on the cause of the blaze, with investigations believed to be ongoing.
According to the Republic's First Deputy Minister for Fuel and Energy, Vladimir Voronkin, Crimea is fully supplied with fuel.
"As of today, the fuel situation is stable. There are sufficient stocks for the population of the Republic of Crimea and for private entities involved in the transport and delivery of products. Fuel is being monitored on a daily basis," Voronkin added.
An aide to the Crimean leader, Oleg Kryuchkov, reported that two temporary accommodation centres had been set up in Feodosia for residents evacuated from the districts closest to the oil depot.
