Moscow Zoo's panda cub Katyusha was seen determinedly climbing to the top of wooden bars, only to be gently pulled down by her watchful mother, Ding Ding, in footage published on Saturday.
The video also shows the playful cub splashing around in a pool in her outdoor enclosure, delighting zoo visitors and online viewers alike. Katyusha, born in August of last year, was named after a popular Russian folk song through a public vote on Moscow City's online portal.
Katyusha's parents, Ding Ding and Ruyi, were brought to Russia from Beijing in 2019. They reside in the 'Chinese Fauna' pavilion at Moscow Zoo, which was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. As giant pandas native to China, Ding Ding and Ruyi are part of a global conservation programme aimed at preserving and breeding this rare species.
