Description

Skydivers were seen cascading over the Great Pyramids of Giza on Wednesday as the seventh edition of the 'Jump Like a Pharaoh' festival kicked off in the outskirts of Cairo.

Footage shows dozens of participants soaring over the 4,000-year-old ancient wonders with colourful canopies before touching down in the surrounding desert.

"I'm very excited. I'm still shaking. Everything was so amazing. I was feeling like I was in a movie, with the pyramids, you know, like flying above them," a skydiver said. "I can't wait to go again. Everything is just beautiful."

"The view is amazing. The pyramids, the desert, the big city, huge city, so populated, and the three pyramids, the desert, it's just amazing. You have to see it for yourself," added a second.

The festival is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and with the support of the Armed Forces, which are providing two C-130 aircraft and a Mi-17 helicopter to conduct over 1,000 jumps across 19 flights. These flights feature 200 international skydivers from all over the world.

Participants will land at the foot of the pyramid of Khafre from October 29 to 31, from 9:00 to 16:00, to coincide with the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
