Description

Dozens of pro-Palestine protesters gathered in Trafalgar Square in London on Monday to march against Israel's operations in Lebanon and Palestine.

Footage shows activists chanting slogans and waving flags, demanding a ceasefire. They are also carrying placards with messages such as 'From Beirut to Gaza we honour our martyrs' and 'End British complicity.' Members of the ultra-orthodox Jewish community can be seen among other activists expressing solidarity at the rally.

"We are saying very clearly. We don't want the genocidal law of the jungle, as a future for our own children and our grandchildren," said one activist "The way that the genocide took place in Gaza is now being expanded into Lebanon, and it will expand further if we don't stop it," he added.

"What Israel is doing in Lebanon is utterly disgusting, we support all the resistance of the Lebanese. People all around the world in civilised countries have to demand their governments to stop arms exports to Israel now," said another.

Israel has strongly denied accusations of 'genocide' and says operations in Gaza and Lebanon are targeting Hamas and Hezbollah positions and infrastructure. The British government suspended around a third of military export licences amid concerns over international humanitarian law.

Israel has conducted airstrikes on southern Lebanon for the past week, with hundreds killed according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

It followed the mass pager and handheld radio explosions last month, which Hezbollah blamed on Israel. The IDF denied involvement. The sides have exchanged cross-border fire since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.
