Ryan Routh, the suspect accused of planning to assassinate former President Donald Trump at his Florida golf course has pleaded not guilty to the charges at Paul G. Rogers Federal Court in Florida.
Footage from the courthouse shows dozens of well-armed police officers and vehicles parking outside the building, monitoring the surrounding area.
Routh was charged with five counts, including the assassination attempt, gun charges and attacking an officer. He had pleaded not guilty to each count. He was detained on September 15, after a Secret Service agent spotted him with his devices.
The suspect has previously spoken of his support for Ukraine, attempts to go to fight, and recruit others, although a motive for the shooting is not known at time of publication.
Routh was reportedly within 400-600 yards of Trump when approached by Secret Service agents, prompting him to flee and leave behind an AK-47, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera.
He could face a sentence of life imprisonment if found guilty on the assassination charge.
