Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed the IDF has killed or injured '60 percent' of Hamas’ forces in Gaza and has disbanded the 'vast majority' of its battalions while addressing the Knesset in Jerusalem for the first time since the start of the conflict on Wednesday.

“IDF soldiers have been fighting for the past nine months, carrying out their work with dedication, sacrifice and success, and the achievements are many,” Gallant added.

Gallant's speech comes as delegations from Egypt, Qatar, the US and Israel convene in Doha for a fresh round of negotiations with Hamas with the aim of securing a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of the remaining Israeli hostages.

The Israeli delegation includes Mossad chief David Barnea, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, and IDF hostage negotiator Nitzan Alon, according to reports.

Fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army launched a large-scale campaign of air strikes and ground incursions, killing at least 38,295 and injuring more than 88,241 others at the time of publication.
