Thousands of people gathered in Beijing's Tiananmen Square on Tuesday to mark China's 75th National Day.
Footage shows soldiers marching while carrying rifles and a large Chinese flag. Thousands of doves and balloons were also seen being released near the Gate of Heavenly Peace Palace.
According to media reports, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged to achieve their 'reunification' with Taiwan while highlighting the country's military capabilities on the eve of the country's national day.
"It's an irreversible trend, a cause of righteousness and the common aspiration of the people. No one can stop the march of history," he said during China's Martyrs' Day celebration in Beijing on Monday.
During the 79th UN General Assembly in New York City, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi underlined that Taiwan will eventually 'return to the embrace of the motherland' and the complete reunification of China will be achieved.
Meanwhile, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te on Thursday reiterated the island's commitment to maintain peace and stability in the region amid its ongoing sovereignty issues with China.
He stated that defence resilience didn't only include national emergencies and disasters but also "the grey-zone incursions and cognitive warfare challenges Taiwan has faced for a long time."
Beijing views Taiwan as part of its territory under the 'One China' principle, while the island has never officially declared independence.
