Description

At least 22 people were reported killed in an Israeli strike on a shelter school in Gaza's Nuseirat refugee camp, with injured people seen arriving at the Al-Aqsa Hospital.

Footage shows ambulances transporting large numbers of wounded people, including children into the crowded facility. Many are seen lying on floors or on blood-stained stretchers.

"We at Al-Aqsa hospital cannot handle the number of patients because the casualties are too many – in the dozens. More than 90 wounded arrived, and the ambulances are still transporting them," said Dr Khalil Dakran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Hospital and the Ministry of Health.

"Now we are receiving patients on the floor due to the lack of beds and the lack of sufficient capabilities to provide health services to these injured," he said.

"Our message to the world is to intervene immediately to stop this aggression and put pressure on the occupation forces to send medicine and medical supplies to Gaza's hospitals, because we're suffering from a major shortage of these supplies, a lack of medical equipment, and a lack of effectiveness," Dr Dakran added.

Israel has stated that it is looking into reports about a strike. Officials have repeatedly denied targeting civilians and have stated that Hamas locations and infrastructure are being hit.

The Israel-Hamas war has continued for over a year after the militant group launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the Gaza Strip, Israel launched a large-scale response of airstrikes and a ground incursion. Palestinian officials reported that over 42,000 people had been killed and more than 98,000 injured at the time of publication.
