Hundreds of football fans were seen flocking to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford to watch the match between Argentina and Canada in the first 2024 Copa America semi-final.

The footage features numerous Argentina fans clad in the team's blue and white iconic jerseys dancing and singing. Canada fans standing in long lines at the stadium's entrance can also be spotted.

Argentina fans expressed strong confidence in the victory of their favourite team while commenting on the outcome of the game.

"We will be in Miami, 100 per cent winning. DiMaria and Messi - their last one, and we go home. People can say what they want, Argentina is Argentina," Facundo stated.

Fan Alan highlighted the importance of the game for Argentina fans as might-be-the-last match for Lionel Messi.

"I mean, for them, it maybe means an end for Messi era, who knows, this could be his last match if they lose. Could be the second last match if they win," he stated.

Some of the local media alleged that Copa America 2024 could be the last tournament 37-year-old Messi played with Argentina's national team after more than two decades in professional football. However, Argentina's team forward did not confirm the claims.

The first semi-final was won by Argentina with the 2-0 score. Messi was the first one to hit Canada's net, scoring his first goal in this year's tournament.

The winner of Copa America 2021, Argentina will defend the title against Colombia or Uruguay, depending on the outcome of the match on Wednesday. If the team manages to retain the title, it would be their fourth major international championship in three years after the Copa America 2021 and the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
