At least 51 people were reported killed as flash flooding hit eastern Spain on Tuesday, as the DANA (isolated depression at high levels) storm tore through the region.
Footage filmed in the capital, Madrid, in the centre of the country, shows heavy rains continuing, lightning strikes, emergency vehicles attending to incidents, as well as fallen trees.
Madrid saw an amber alert, while the eastern region of Valencia had a 'red' warning. Local authorities there warned residents to stay home and said that the number of fatalities could rise. Roads and railway lines were also cut off.
According to weather reports, over a year's rain fell in just eight hours.
