Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan arrived in Beijing on Tuesday to participate in the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Footage shows Al-Burhan disembarking from his aircraft at Shoudu International Airport where he was received by Chinese and Sudanese delegations. The video also features a Chinese folkloric group performing before Al-Burhan's motorcade left the airport.
“The summit will adopt two final documents: a declaration and an action plan to build greater agreement between the two sides and chart a course to implement high-quality China-Africa co-operation in the next three years,” Sudanese Ambassador to China Omar Siddiq stated according to media reports.
In a statement, China's Foreign Ministry described the summit as "grand reunion of the China-Africa big family" claiming that it was the "largest diplomatic event China has hosted in recent years." UN Secretary General Antonio Gurerres is also expected to attend the summit as a special guest, the statement further read.
Held under the motto "Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future", FOCAC 2024 runs from September 4-6 and is attended by leaders of African member states, as well as representatives of African regional and international organisations with the aim to boost co-operation with the continent's biggest investor.
