Live from St Peter’s Square on Thursday, May 8, as the 133 cardinals enter their second day of conclave at the Vatican to select the next Pope.
Following each round of voting, smoke rises from the Sistine Chapel’s chimney; black to indicate no decision and white to signal that a new pontiff has been chosen.
On the opening day, only one ballot was cast, with black smoke seen. From the second day onward, the cardinals are expected to hold two votes in the morning and two in the afternoon.
