Events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory Day take place in Moscow, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and foreign leaders attending.
On May 8, Putin is scheduled to hold an official meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The negotiations will be in a narrow and expanded format.
After the meeting, the presidents will make statements on joint strategic and comprehensive partnership and co-operation, as they mark the 80th anniversary of victory in WW2, the victory of the Chinese people over the Japanese invaders and the formation of the UN, as well as a joint statement on global strategic stability.
Putin and Xi are also scheduled to have a head-to-head discussion.
In the evening, a reception is planned at the Kremlin Palace with the visiting heads of state in Moscow. 29 leaders are in the capital for the celebrations, while representatives from 13 countries will also take part in the iconic Parade on Red Square.
Putin will hold more than 15 bilateral meetings over the three days of official events with representatives of invited countries.
