Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrives in Moscow on Wednesday, May 7, ahead of Russia's 80th Victory Day anniversary celebrations.
Maduro is expected to attend the Victory Day Parade and other commemorative events held in the Russian capital on May 9.
Before celebrations kick off, Maduro is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday for bilateral talks, where the two leaders are expected to sign a strategic partnership agreement.
Held on May 9, Victory Day marks the end of hostilities in the European theatre of the Second World War, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War. In Western Europe, the event is celebrated as Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) on May 8, due to the time difference with Moscow at the time the armistice was signed.
