Members of Berlin’s Russian community, along with friends and other supporters gather on Friday, May 9, for the annual 'Immortal Regiment' march, honouring Soviet soldiers who fought in World War II.
The peaceful procession sees people walking while holding portraits of relatives who served in the war, and culminates at Tiergarten, home to the Soviet War Memorial and final resting place for thousands of Red Army soldiers.
Victory Day is not a public holiday in the country but is observed by Russian and CIS diaspora as well as many others around the world, marking the defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945.
