Crowds gather in the Vatican to pay their final respects during the transfer of Pope Francis' coffin on Wednesday, April 23.
His body is moved from the chapel of Casa Santa Marta to St Peter’s Basilica in the early morning, passing through Piazza Santa Marta and Piazza dei Protomartiri Romani.
From the Arch of the Bells, the procession exits into the square before entering the basilica through its central door.
Pope Francis died on Monday at age 88. His funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 26.
