NATO's Rutte meets Japanese DefMin in Tokyo

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte begins his three-day visit to Japan with a meeting with Minister of Defence Gen Nakatani in Tokyo on Tuesday, April 8.

Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening Japan-NATO security ties, Ukraine and China, as well as potential collaboration between NATO and Japan’s defence industry.

Rutte is also scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba for the first time since both leaders took office in October 2024.
