Supporters of Calin Georgescu gather outside Romania’s Constitutional Court in Bucharest on Tuesday, March 11, as judges consider his appeal against the Central Election Bureau's (BEC) decision to block his presidential bid.

Violent clashes were seen following the ban on Sunday, while Georgescu himself appealed for calm.

The BEC claimed Georgescu had 'violated the very obligation to defend democracy'. He strongly refuted the claims, saying "Romania is under tyranny!".
