Blue Origin's New Glenn (NG-1) reusable rocket launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Thursday, January 16.
This marks the third attempt this week for the rocket launch as a result of unfavourable weather conditions.
Following years of testing, NG-1 carries Blue Origin’s Blue Ring Pathfinder, a set of communications devices, power systems and a flight computer for the Blue Ring spacecraft. This will test crucial systems for the United States Defence Innovation Unit’s (DIU) Orbital Logistics programme.
The test mission is set to last six hours. If successful, it will enable Jeff Bezos' company to establish itself as a key player in the space exploration industry and a major competitor to Elon Musk's SpaceX.
