The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo on Friday, October 11.
The prize is given annually to individuals, groups, or organisations that have made significant contributions to advancing peace.
It recognises efforts in diplomacy, conflict resolution, disarmament, human rights, and humanitarian work and can honour specific actions or long-term achievements that promote global peace.
Recipients receive a gold medal, a diploma, and a cash prize. Last year’s laureate was Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi.
