    Claudia Sheinbaum is sworn in as Mexico’s first female president in Mexico City on Tuesday, October 1.

    She won the presidential election on June 2 by a landslide, taking around 61 percent of the vote.

    Sheinbaum has pledged to continue the policies of her predecessor and political mentor, outgoing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

    Her nearest challenger Xochitl Galvez received 28 percent of the vote.
