Russian President Vladimir Putin meets Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday, September 11, ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit.

The leaders are expected to put trade and economic co-operation at the heart of their talks. They will also cover international affairs including with situation in Ukraine - with Putin set to brief Modi on the latest developments.

Their meeting comes ahead of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12-13.

BRICS is now a hugely influential bloc, comprising 40 per cent of global GDP and nearly half the world's population. It was created in 2009 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with South Africa joining a year later - and later expanded again, admitting more countries in 2024 and 2025.
