
'Alysh', a traditional type of national wrestling, takes place at the VI World Nomad Games in Cholpon Ata on Wednesday, September 2.
Alysh is a Kyrgyz 'belt wrestling' style and one of the oldest traditional sports of the Kyrgyz people. The bout takes place only in a standing position. The objective is to throw the opponent onto their back while maintaining grip.
Among the participating countries are India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Brazil, Cameroon, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Peru, Venezuela, Panama, Uruguay, Mongolia, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and others.
The World Nomad Games is an international platform that brings together different cultures, traditions, values and sporting disciplines. They were first held in 2014.
The iconic, international cultural and sports event dedicated to nomadic peoples is held from August 31 to September 6.
