    UNGA 81 - 81st session of UN General Assembly kicks off in NYC

    The high-level General Debate for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81) kicks off in New York City on Tuesday, September 22.

    Leaders and representatives from across the globe will gather at the UN Headquarters from September 22 to September 28 for the annual meeting entitled 'Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All'.

    The 81st General Assembly will focus on strengthening international co-operation and addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the world today.

    Among the key issues on the agenda are sustainable development, climate action, sea-level rise, pandemic prevention and preparedness, human rights, peace and security, and international co-operation.

    The high-level week will also feature major meetings on climate action, threats posed by rising sea levels, pandemic preparedness, and the 40th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development.

    Presiding over the 81st session is Khalilur Rahman of Bangladesh, who was elected President of the General Assembly earlier this year.
