Skydiver Sergei Boytsov attempts to set a world record for the highest parachute jump from a hot air balloon, in the foothills of the Altai Mountains on Russian National Flag Day, Saturday, August 22.
The record attempt is being organised ahead of the World Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg in September 2026.
The crew will ascend to 11–12 km, near the stratosphere, to make the jump. The current 10-km world record was set by Polish athletes. The flight will use Russia’s largest 10,000-cubic-metre hot-air balloon, specially modified for the high-altitude operation.
