The United Nations Security Council convenes on Monday, June 29, in New York to discuss the situation in the Middle East, with a focus on developments in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Gaza.
Council members are expected to brief on the implementation of Security Council resolution 2334 from 2016, which calls on Israel to cease settlement activity in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and urges immediate measures to prevent violence against civilians. They will also address the security and humanitarian situation in the region.
The briefers will furthermore discuss the humanitarian and political situation in Gaza, nearly eight months after the Security Council adopted resolution 2803 in November 2025, endorsing the US-brokered Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict and establishing the international Board of Peace (BoP), chaired by US President Donald Trump.
