Live from Rotterdam as ‘rat virus’ cruise ship returns

Live from Rotterdam as the hantavirus-hit cruise ship MV Hondius returns to its home port on Monday, May 18.

Authorities have said it will be a staggered disembarkation process, followed by extensive cleaning and disinfection procedures on board.

The personnel on board include 25 crew members and two medical staff. None of those currently aboard are reportedly displaying symptoms associated with hantavirus infection.

The outbreak has so far been linked to three deaths. Passengers finally disembarked in Tenerife and were flown home last week. Health authorities around the world are racing to trace contacts of dozens of passengers who left at earlier stops.
