Polling stations close in Lima on Monday, April 13, after reopening for a second day due to delays in the delivery of electoral materials, with vote counting now underway.
The extension allows thousands of voters who were unable to cast ballots on Sunday to participate after disruptions left several polling stations unable to operate on time.
More than 25 million people are eligible to vote in a fragmented race featuring 35 presidential tickets. Voters are choosing 208 officials, including the president, two vice presidents, 60 senators, 130 deputies and 15 Andean parliamentarians.
Voting is mandatory for citizens aged 18 to 70. If no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the vote, the election moves to a runoff in June between the two leading contenders.
