The Holy Fire from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem arrives at Moscow’s Vnukovo-3 airport aboard a special flight on Saturday, April 11.
The fire is transported in a special capsule by a delegation from the St Andrew the First-Called Foundation. It is delivered to the Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, as well as to churches in other regions.
The Holy Fire is believed to ignite miraculously in the Tomb of Christ during the Holy Saturday service. It is then distributed around Orthodox countries, including Russia, for Easter celebrations.
