Israel and the United States launched a joint military operation across Iran on Saturday, striking sites they say are tied to Tehran's nuclear and ballistic missile programmes in a bid to eliminate what they described as 'existential threats.'

In an address to the nation, US President Donald Trump warned that any further Iranian aggression would be met "with a force that has never been seen before," vowing devastating retaliation if Tehran continues striking Israel and regional US bases.

Iranian authorities, meanwhile, announced plans to form a temporary interim council following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with President Masoud Pezeshkian expected to assume leadership duties until a successor is appointed.

As hostilities mount, air traffic across the Middle East has ground to a halt in several countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
