Colombian President Gustavo Petro commented on his meeting this Tuesday with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors and without press access, marked the first meeting between Trump and Petro, who is in the final stretch of his term.
It took place a year after a period marked by tariffs, sanctions and public disputes — including US threats of possible ground operations in Colombia as part of the fight against drug trafficking, and Petro’s criticism of Washington over the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
