Beijing welcomes 2026 with stunning New Year’s Eve high-tech link-up

Beijing marks the arrival of 2026 with its annual, iconic New Year’s Eve celebrations across the city on Wednesday, December 31.

This year, the New Year countdown event takes place at the Ancient Bell Museum at Dazhong Temple, where the Ming Dynasty Yongle Bell - a symbol of good fortune - will be struck 108 times to convey traditional New Year blessings.

Simultaneously, a large-scale drum performance will be held at the Juyongguan section of the Great Wall, symbolising motivation and progress. The two historic landmarks will be connected through the latest tech to create a shared ceremonial soundscape
