Huge anti-govt protests continue in Sofia

Live from the Bulgarian capital on Wednesday, December 10, as the latest large-scale anti-government demonstration calls for resignations and sweeping reforms.

The protest, backed by the PP-DB coalition, comes following allegations of widespread corruption, undue influence and what activists describe as 'mafia-style' governance.

Weeks of nationwide unrest were triggered by the 2026 draft budget. The government U-turned on the plans but protests have continued, with rallies reported in major cities right across the country.

Bulgaria is governed by minority coalition after the Gerb party won the 2024 elections but without a clear majority.
