The vote marks the end of President Gabriel Boric’s term, with the constitution prohibiting consecutive re-election.
In the first round, former Labour Minister and Unidad por Chile candidate Jeannette Jara led with 27 per cent of the vote, narrowly ahead of Republican Party candidate Jose Antonio Kast on 24 per cent. Neither candidate crossed the 50 percent threshold needed to win outright.
The winner will take office on March 11, 2026.
