The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) formally presents credentials to president-elect Rodrigo Paz of the Christian Democratic Party and vice president-elect Edmand Lara in Sucre on Wednesday, November 5.
Paz secured 54.96% of the vote, 3,519,534 ballots, in the October 19 elections, defeating the Libre alliance led by former president Jorge Tuto Quiroga, who received 45.04%. It also ends nearly two decades of governance by the Movement for Socialism (MAS).
The ceremony takes place at the historic Casa de la Libertad, the site where Bolivia’s declaration of independence and founding charter were signed in 1825; a symbolic location chosen for the nation’s bicentennial year.
