The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo on Friday, October 10.
The prize is given annually to individuals, groups, or organisations that have made significant contributions to advancing peace, recognising efforts in diplomacy, conflict resolution, disarmament, human rights, and humanitarian work. It can also honour specific actions or long-term achievements that promote global peace.
Recipients receive a gold medal, a diploma and a monetary award. Last year’s laureate was the Japanese Organisation Nihon Hidankyo for its efforts on nuclear weapons.
