Teachers, transport workers and other unions hold a strike and demonstration in Paris on Thursday, September 18, to protest against budget cuts announced over the summer.
The march begins at Place de la Bastille and heads towards Place de la Republique, with a huge turnout expected.
The action is organised by major unions including the CFDT, CGT, Unsa, FSU and Solidaires, with a wage freeze, changes to pensions, higher medical costs and potential cuts to public services all on the agenda.
The protest comes less than two weeks after François Bayrou’s government was ousted over budget rows, while his replacement, Sébastien Lecornu, has not yet confirmed future plans.
