Global Sumud Flotilla ships depart from Barcelona

Live from Barcelona as the Global Sumud Flotilla ships and boats leave Barcelona harbour on Sunday, August 31.

Dozens of vessels from 44 countries are making an attempt to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge the Israeli blockade.

It follows a recent UN-backed report warning of famine conditions in Gaza, with more than half a million people—about a quarter of the population—facing severe hunger; a finding rejected by Israel.

The Global Sumud Flotilla describes itself as a nonviolent humanitarian mission in support of the Palestinian people.
